SOLO: I'm Not His Wife and I Have My Own Company
Sarah recaps an experience during the annual Podcast Movement conference that has left her shaking her head.
What does it actually mean to feel like you belong?
Sarah Burke is back from Podcast Movement in New York with a lot on her mind. She unpacks what she learned about the rapidly changing podcast landscape, detailing new research from Tom Webster about the top podcasting platforms and habits.
She discusses a panel she was on with Jay Nachlis of Coleman Insights, Matt Cundill of Sound Off Media, and Peter Bukowski of Locked On Packers on podcasting’s surprising role in combating loneliness ahead of...the rant.
After more than 20 years working in media, Sarah found herself at an industry meetup being mistaken for someone’s wife, only to later be introduced as an employee of a male colleague’s company instead of the founder of her own.
The bigger question is why are women still walking into professional spaces and having to prove they belong there?
Sarah connects the experience to why women-centered spaces are special and looks ahead to the International Women’s Podcast Awards, happening October 8th in Toronto. It has nothing to do with downloads or impressions, celebrating the women and gender-diverse creators, producers and storytellers.
Plus, Sarah is giving away a pair of tickets to the awards. Instructions:
